On the carnivore diet you should only eat meat, salt, and water for best results:
Eat fatty meat until it stops tasting good, and then stop.
Eat any meat or seafood you prefer, makes you feel the best, and that you can afford, but ruminants like beef, lamb, goat and venison are optimal.
The fat is very important as it contains many essential nutrients and is essential for healthy hormones, skin, neurological health, energy, growth, and repair; it is not just a calorie source. Eat the fat!
Eggs are great as long as you tolerate them. If you don’t, it’s often the whites that cause issues so try having just the yolks to see if they work for you.
You can salt your meat to taste, but you don't need to add salt to your water unless for some reason it tastes good and you feel better doing it. Normally just salting to taste gets the job done. You really don’t need much salt and many long term carnivores don’t use salt at all, myself included.
Dairy should be used as a condiment only.

2) No sugar or any sweeteners,
3) Nothing artificial.
These rules apply to sauces, seasonings, and drinks as well.
- No plant oils eg. canola oil, sunflower oil, grapeseed oil, soybean oil or even olive oil
- Seasonings, spices, bread crumbs etc.
- Legumes, grains, vegetables, seeds, nuts etc.
- Fruit and honey (sorry Dr. Saladino).
- Sweeteners.
- Coffee & tea.
- Sauces and marinades.
- Anything derived from or containing plants

Can I stop taking my vitamin supplements like Zinc, vitamin D, magnesium etc?
Iv done carnivore for 4 months have done keto for yrs. Never had a problem. Recently my girl started carnivore, and at first loved it. Then at times she started throwing up, basically pur fat. She doesn’t eat excessive amounts of fat. In my studing this diet and health iv learned bile is how we digest fat. Bule is produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. That’s when I realized she’s had her gallbladder removed. So I guess 2 things. Everyone might want to mention this to people on carnivore. And any suggestions on carnivore for her. Is she OK eating lean meat( red). Or chicken
Although I’d heard of the Carnivore diet a long time ago, I viewed it with the commonly held false narrative, that it was hugely detrimental to physical health.
As a Master PT (also CEO & published author) I’m very interested in how I can fuel my body to work at its optimal level. Previously, I have been vegetarian for 16 years and as an Ultra runner I tried Veganism for 12 months – which resulted in me becoming unwell with bad blood results.
I have always been very active physically…competitive Crossfitter, Ultra Runner, Cyclist. Recently, I started suffering from digestive symptoms such as excessive bloating, acid reflux, poor sleep, psoriasis and general fatigue. I’m a 58yr old grandmother and still train 6 x per week but feel as though I’m not living my optimal self and have made a commitment to do 90 days strict carnivore. I’ve been replacing my veggies and fruit with meat, fish, eggs and cheese…but have also been eating sugar-free gum and drinking tea and coffee. So, tomorrow I’m starting on a strict phase of Beef, Lamb, Pork & Venison, eggs and drinking only mineral water. I’m really excited to see how I feel mentally and physically!
I was a vegetarian for 37 years. Been eating fish for 20+ years and meat for 7 years now. I struggle. The problem with carnivore diets is that I don’t particularly like meat, I need veg to take away the taste. I really have a problem with fatty meat (usually feel as though I want to throw it up). I am however cooking with lard and manage to eat sausages. I would really like to do a carnivore diet but I don’t think I could do it.. I am hoping I can gradually work up to increasing my meat intake. If you have any ideas on this, or fancy doing a veggie to carnivore challenge, I’ll be there!
I currently weigh 250lbs and been on a ketogenic diet previously and lost 15lbs quickly and just stayed at same weight for 3 months.. To lose my desired weight to 200 lbs i dont understand quantities to eat as have heard I can eat too little protein, normally ribeye steak..
I normally have 2 × 200g ribeye steaks at 1pm and snack on a couple of pieces of lamb before at 6pm and feel totally satiated but should increase to maybe 3 ribeye or 2 or 3 eggs per day??
